Baque Trovão gets the party underway in authentic Afro-Brazilian style, with (weather-permitting!) a parade to the doors of the venue. Performing in the Maracatu tradition, a vibrant musical and dance form known for its colourful costumes, rhythmic beats, and rich history, this group will be laying down the foundations for a great day of Latin energy and soul!

CORES DO SAMBA (16:00-17:15)

Get ready to dance with Cores do Samba, a vibrant Brazilian band led by the dynamic Caru Lins! Bringing infectious energy and irresistible rhythms. With a lineup of 8 musicians, Cores do Samba delivers a powerful mix of samba, bossa nova, MPB, and funk, featuring classics by Gilberto Gil, Tom Jobim, Jorge Ben and tributes to the late Sérgio Mendes. Rapidly becoming a rising sensation and playing to sold out audiences and dancing crowds  across Cambridge, don’t miss the chance to experience the soul of Brazil live at this years Cambridge Jazz Festival.

VIVA LA TRADICIÓN (17:30-18:45)

On a mission to keep the musical legacy of New York-style salsa dura alive, this 12-piece band of percussionists, instrumentalists and vocalists comes at you full on with the authentic sounds and rhythms of merengue, salsa, and cha-cha-cha. Viva La Tradición are passionate about Latin music in general, recreating tunes by Poncho Sanchez, Oscar Hernández, Celia Cruz and Ray Barretto amongst others, as well as performing original arrangements from members of the band and some salsa versions . Come and hear the authentic music of the barrio and get on the dance floor!
