Danish Trio, Little North, signed to prestigious label ACT Music, consists of Lasse Jacobsen on drums, Martin Brunbjerg Rasmussen on bass, and Benjamin Nørholm Jacobsen on piano.
Cambridge Jazz Festival is proud to welcome the acclaimed Danish piano trio Little North rarely heard by UK audiences.
With their strong feeling for melody, harmony and dramaturgy, these three young musicians create a cinematic sound, music which can at times be melancholic, at others enchantingly beautiful, and which is full of twists and turns.
With their captivating cinematic sound and a warm and intense presence, Little North bonds with their audience from the very first note. The sound of the band is way bigger than their classic piano trio constellation suggests. In a melting pot of modern minimalism and Nordic jazz tradition and with an intensity that draws threads to the jazz scene of New York, Little North adds the next exciting chapter to the history of Scandinavian jazz. With intuitive interplay, the trio moves effortlessly between improvisation and composition. Their compositions, consisting of simple melodies in complex arrangements, place as much emphasis on the notes that are not played as on those the listener hears.
Little North, signed to prestigious label ACT Music, consists of Lasse Jacobsen on drums, Martin Brunbjerg Rasmussen on bass, and Benjamin Nørholm Jacobsen on piano. Since 2020, the trio has gained recognition for their unique sound and has released five critically acclaimed albums.
