It’s always better live – whether we’re talking music or science, nothing beats the feeling of it happening right in front of you. An exhilarating collaboration between Cambridge Science Centre and Upbeat Big Band, Offbeat Science brings together an electrifying Big Band sound, explosive science, and a healthy dose of mayhem to create an uproarious show like you’ve never heard or seen before.

Set against the pulse-raising sounds of jazz, soul, funk, and blues, join us as we explore sound using fire, test the periodic table’s explosive predictions, experience how bowling balls may affect a trumpet player’s pitch, discover why metals are effective (if unexpected) pyrotechnics, and much more. Is it jazz? Is it science? It could be both but it’ll definitely be mayhem!

Offbeat Science is brought to you by Cambridge Science Centre and the Upbeat Big Band in partnership with Cambridge Junction, Cambridge Jazz Festival, Pianoforte, and Cambridgeshire Music.
